At Natural Drift Anglers, we find great joy in connecting with the outdoors and connecting with fish on a fly rod. We would love to share our passion for fly-fishing with you. Our goal is to teach you the ins and outs of fly fishing and help you put your new skills to the test on the water. We will do this in your choice of Fort Collins, Red Feather Lakes, or the Poudre Canyon in Northern Colorado.

WE HAVE GIFT CERTIFICATES!

Activities:
  • 4 Hour Beginners Course: Learn the gear, casting, crucial knots, basic entomology, and techniques to get that natural drift to hopefully catch and land a fish on a fly rod. We will be wading, using a raft, row boat, pontoon boat or float tubes in the ponds and lakes if you'd like to try that. (It's fun!) This class includes all the gear you will need.

  • 6 Hour Beginners Course: A couple more hours with a guide at your side. Lunch is included.

  • Let's Just Go Fishin' (4 hours): If you have all your gear and just want to brush up on your casting, water reading, fly selection, knots, or want to pick Rob's brain about various techniques while fishing with him, this would be your option.

  • Casting Lessons: We can go to a park or school playground near you and work on your delivery system.

  • Fly Tying Lessons: Learn the basic tools, materials, and techniques you'll use to tie your own flies. You will learn to tie a dry fly and a wet fly. Catching a fish on a fly is satisfying, but catching a fish on a fly you tied yourself is MORE satisfying!  â€‹â€‹

Natural Drift Anglers, LLC is a new Fort Collins-based fly fishing instruction business specializing in personalized instruction and practice. Our goal is to create a lasting skillset for our clients through exceptional fly fishing or fly tying instruction.  We are dedicated to providing top-notch service and are looking forward to getting things rolling!

My name is Rob Deakin, and I'm the owner of Natural Drift Anglers, LLC. I have loved fishing since I can remember and have been hooked on fly fishing for 26 years. I grew up in Fort Collins, and have caught many fish in many places. I have guided professionally for several years and taught multiple friends and family members how to fly fish. During the school year, I am an elementary school Media/Technology specialist and teach kindergarteners-5th graders how to use the computer to create and how find the right book in the library. I have the patience it takes to teach you what you need to know to catch fish with a fly rod!

While I'm always searching for "the lunker," I find joy in fooling any size fish into biting the fly I present. Whether it's from a boat, shore, or wading in a river or lake, there's just an indescribable feeling I get that I'd love to share with you. Got kids? Bring 'em on! I find extra joy in sharing a lifelong healthy hobby with the young 'uns.
